About Tracy
Tracy Katz Muhl grew up in Northbrook and attended local public schools. She is a working mom, attorney, and dedicated community advocate with a proven record of leadership and results.
After earning her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and her law degree from the University of Chicago, Tracy joined a respected Chicago law firm and worked with Equality Illinois and Lambda Legal to advance LGBTQ+ rights and advocate for civil unions. For the past 20 years, she has practiced law with Fox, Swibel, Levin & Carroll, LLP.
As a Democratic Committeeperson, District 28 School Board President, gun violence prevention advocate, and grassroots organizer, Tracy has worked to amplify community voices and deliver real change. As School Board President, she led the implementation of free full-day kindergarten, expanded high-quality special education programming, and guided the district through the pandemic by offering both full-time in-person instruction and a unique remote learning academy—resulting in measurable learning gains during a challenging time.
A longtime member of Moms Demand Action and Youth Services of Glenview-Northbrook, and a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood and Personal PAC, Tracy is committed to an Illinois that is economically strong, protects human rights, and ensures equitable access to education for all.

Tracy Katz Muhl currently serves as the Illinois State Representative for the 57th District, bringing a proven record of grassroots leadership, legislative effectiveness, and party-building success.
As Northfield Township Democratic Committeeperson, she has built one of the most successful township organizations in Illinois—helping elect Democrats up and down the ballot in critical suburban races. In recognition of her leadership and results, Tracy received the prestigious County Party Builder Award in 2022.
For more than a decade, Tracy has worked tirelessly to organize volunteers, mobilize voters, and strengthen Democratic infrastructure at every level. Her leadership has not only delivered victories on Election Day but has helped build a sustainable, community-driven movement that continues to grow.
